FAQ
What kind of motorcycles are used in the Basic Rider Course?
Our fleet is comprised of the popular brands, such as Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki.
Our training bikes range from 125 to 250cc's, which make them perfect for someone just learning to ride, or for someone who hasn't been on a motorcycle in a while. |
What are Rain Dates?
Rain Dates are dates that are set aside for most of our Basic Rider Courses. In the event of inclement weather such as rain, snow or extreme cold, we will defer to the Rain Dates to finish your class. Your safety is our number one priority. We list each class with its assigned Rain Dates so you can plan ahead with your schedule. Sorry, the Rain Dates are FIRM.
|
Taking the BRC automatically entitles me to a completion card, right?
Wrong. To earn your MSF completion Card, you must attend all of the dates and their respective times listed for your class, as well as being available for the rain dates. In addition, you must get an 80% or better passing score on the written test and get no more than 20 penalty points during the riding evaluation.
|
Do I need a Learner's Permit to take the BRC?
All that is required is that you have a valid Driver's license.
|
Will the BRC or ERC completion card allow me to ride on base or post?
Yes. However, check with your safety office, as their policies may change from time to time.
|
What do I need to bring to the first night of class?
We refer to the first night as "Hawaiian shirt and flip-flop night; come as you are along with a positive attitude ready to learn. Also, please remember to bring two small cans of non-perishable food items as we donate it to the Salvation Army's Food Pantry.
|
Can I use my Scooter in the BRC?
Yes, so long as it is larger than 49cc. If you use your own Scooter, be sure it is in road worthy condition, such as having good tread on the tires and everything functions as it should. Due to insurance policies, we cannot store your Scooter overnight; be prepared to bring it both days for riding. How you get it to our riding range is up to you, as well as loading and unloading.
|
Can I take my BRC completion card to my home state and get my M endorsement?
Not all states have reciprocity with Colorado. We strongly suggest that you contact the DMV in your home state and verify if they will honor a completion card from Colorado. Some states require some kind of verification of your test scores before issuing your M endorsement; we're happy to provide that information upon request.

HELP! I've lost my completion card!
Graduates from Wheels in Motion, Inc. can get a replacement completion card for a nominal fee. Upon verifying your information in our database, we will issue you a new card with the original date you took the course and note on the new card that it supersedes the older card. WE ONLY MAINTAIN RECORDS FOR THREE YEARS.
NOTE: We offer this to our graduates only. |
Will these courses make me a better rider?
That is entirely up to you. Formal training has its benefits as opposed to learning by trial and error, or getting advice form someone who has bad riding habits. The saying, "You don't know what you don't know" rings true in our sport. Having the proper attitude and a desire to improve by practicing your riding techniques can go a long way in allowing you to enjoy motorcycling for years to come.

What is "Snowbirds On Stand-By?" (SOS)
SOS is the BRC during the winter months. We will put on an SOS class provided that the following lines up:
1.We have a minimum of 6 students who wish to enroll and who are very flexible with their schedule so we can notify you last minute (usually within 12 hours) if the class will actually take place (weather permitting) 2. You're willing to pay for your slot in advance so we know we have a firm commitment. Give us a call if you need further assistance. |
Why should I go with Wheels in Motion, Inc. instead of another site?
Good question.
First off, we never have and never will talk bad about another training site. We prefer to have our reputation speak for itself, but if this helps: Our staff are current, certified MSF Rider Coaches who meet and exceed Colorado CDOT and MSF standards; Our staff are regularly updated on the current trends and practices in our industry; We tell the best jokes (clean ones, of course!) |
I registered for a class and now it isn't listed on your website!
If this has happened, it means that the class is now full and there are no slots available for that class. If you have paid in advance, you have a guaranteed slot and the class will take place on the dates specified.
|
Do you have "Women Only" classes?
Yes! Look for "WO" under "register".
|
What if I can't make one of the dates listed for the class?
Our class dates and times are FIRM; this enables us to schedule classes and allows you to make plans accordingly. When you register and pay for a particular class, you are committing to the dates and times specified, including RAIN DATES. Missing a date, or being late for any class session, results in losing your slot and forfeiting your tuition. You will then have to re-register and pay for another class in the full amount, as well as attend the class in its entirety.
